About Convertor Windows

Hi

I am wondering if it is possible on the Convertor windows provide some facility to change the name of the project/model(Sorry i am not sure what it call. E.g. RE MS SQL Server 2005) which is on the application view. When you convert the model, because it is a bit confuse when you first tried to convert an SQL server 2005 model to MYsql5, both names are the same E.g. RE MS SQL Server 2005. You can only see the different on the status bar in the workspace.

I am not sure is it a duplication/or a mistake on the Model2: Drop down list in the Convertor windows. It has a “–New Models–” option, which does not do anything. I knew that “No model selected” option is not to select any mode;"

Is it possible to provide more function on Convertor Windows to allow user to change the name of the Model Title, Workspace, name…etc on the Model 2 Values, before the model been convert, so that it would save a bit of time to change it afterward.

Please let me know if you want me to explain more.

Many thanks

Chi

Hello Chi,

Is it possible to provide more function on Convertor Windows to allow user to change the name of the Model Title, Workspace, name...etc on the Model 2 Values, before the model been convert.

We will consider your request. CR # 36 469.

(Sorry i am not sure what it call.

In the Model 1 box in Convertor, there is the model name. If the model name is Videorental, Videorental will be written there. If your model name is MS SQL Server 2005, MS SQL Server 2005 will be written there. Feel free to rename your model in the AV or Model Explorer before you open the Convertor.

In the Model 2 box, there are two main sections:
--No Model Selected-- - Here, you will find names of models opened in the AV. You can select any of these models for model merge (model update) or alter script generation.

--New Model-- - Under this section, all databases supported in TDM 3 are listed. Here, you can select a database type for your model conversion.
Notice that for Model 2, only the following icon is available in this case. - Save Merged Model 2 to New Model.
As soon as you click Execute, the model 1 will be converted to the selected db system and will open in the AW automatically. See the new item in the AV too. The converted model has the name of original model - it is the same model, however in different db system. Information on db system is in the status bar.
If you like to rename the model, press F2 in AV or Model Explorer.
Also, feel free to save the converted model.

Note: The Convertor dialog is used for: model merge (model merge itself and model merge as a phase during model update), alter script generation and model conversion. All these functions are available in one dialog.
Anyway, the Convertor will be further enhanced.

I am not sure is it a duplication/or a mistake on the Model2: Drop down list in the Convertor windows. It has a "--New Models--" option, which does not do anything. I knew that "No model selected" option is not to select any mode;"

Please see the explanation above.

If you have any questions, please write me back. Thanks.

Regards,

Vladka
