Access violation at address 0000000000B34318 in module 'Toad.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFFDCBFE2A0

After a Windows Defender Update I try to open Toad for Oracle and get the error 'Access violation at address 0000000000B34318 in module 'Toad.exe'. Read of address FFFFFFFFDCBFE2A0.'

Hopefully someone can help me

I'm not sure if this will help, but you can try resetting all Toad settings.

Assuming you have Toad version 13.2... (for other versions just substitute your version number)

  • In windows, go to C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\
  • Rename the "13.2" folder to "13.2_save" or similar.
  • Edit the SettingsLocation.Ini file with notepad
  • Add the following line to the end of the [Toad 13.2] section:
    CleanInstall=1
  • Save and close SettingsLocation.Ini
  • When you start Toad (assuming Defender problem is gone) Toad will create a new 13.2 folder. If at some point you want to restore your old settings, you can swap this folder with 13.2_save. Or you can try copying only a few settings over such as connections. Just be sure to do that while Toad is not running.

Thanks for responding. I just tried that and I'm getting the same error message just different ID's.
