Access Violation with 12.0.0.61

When I first start up Toad 12.0.0.61, I’m getting error message “Access Violation at address 064C8FB8 in module 'Toad.exe. Write of address 00000050.” This only started happening after I installed version 12 yesterday. This wasn’t an issue with the Beta.

Hello,

Please send your toad.el file located in Toad’s app data directory (C:\Users[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0). A quick way
to access this folder is to go to options > General and click “open folder” below the path to your app data folder. You can send this file off-line if you prefer.

Thanks,

Brad

Thanks. I see this is coming from Toad Jump. Are you a Toad 12 beta user? If so, there may have been a bad file copied to your commercial user files. Let’s
rule this out first.

Hi Brad,

After I installed 12.0, I realized that I was missing things from when I was beta testing 12. I renamed

C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0\User Files

TO

C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0\User Files_BACKUP

Then I copied my user files directory from:

C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0 beta

TO

C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0

After that all my files and settings reappeared. So now how do I proceed?

Thanks in advance,

You’ll need the release version of JumpTargets.dat instead of the beta version that was copied in. If you copy the JumpTargets.dat file from ‘ C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest
Software\Toad for Oracle\12.0\User Files_BACKUP’ into your ‘ C:\Users\sacksm\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad
for Oracle\12.0\User Files’
does that resolve the issue?

Thanks,

  • Mike

I think if you copy the JumpTargets.dat file from your
User Files_BACKUP
folder to your
User Files folder, that will fix the problem.
