We use Toad in a VDI environment that has no access to “the world” so that the app cannot connect to Quest servers. We are seeing this dialog appear from time to time and would like to have a way to prevent it.
I thought there was a way to disable the auto-update check/install feature, but I can’t find it now. Of course, I could be thinking of another app.
Cheers,
Russ
You can disable it with the following steps…
- Stop the Quest Update Service Windows Service and set its Startup Type to Manual
- If you are on a newer version of Windows, toggle QuestUpdate.NotificationUI so that it does not start automatically.
- If you are on an older version of Windows and do not see QuestUpdate.NotificationUI listed in startup apps you can find it in the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and remove it.
I looked for a Toad something in Windows Services but didn’t think of looking for Quest.
Thank you so much for the quick response.
Cheers,
Russ

It’s worth noting that Auto Update will be restored to its enabled state when you next update. There is a command line argument to disable it during installation. See the command line arguments section in the Installation Guide. Toad for Oracle - Technical Documentation
