Automatic update fails

Good Afternoon TOAD Team,

Larry

Maybe it's related to this statement:

  • Updates: We are no longer using MSP patch files for beta updates. Select and download the same beta package (32 or 64-bit version) as you have installed, and the MSI will update your existing Toad 13.3 Beta.

(see: Toad for Oracle 17.1 Beta)

Good Morning Dirk,

I had already install TOAD 13.3 per the instructions. The error is from TOAD updating itself; if the TOAD team wants to do things differently, fine, update the code to comply with the forum post.

Larry

Hi Larry,

I know. This is only a guess on my part, because in the past the update function in TOAD loaded an MSI patch. I simply assume that this function in TOAD has not yet been adapted accordingly. To update the beta version you have to download and install the current version again.

This was a filename issue. The URL used by Toad is expecting "ToadForOracle" but the build process was uploading it as "ToadforOracle" (lower-case "f").

There was also a small bug in the conversion to the MSI update that has been fixed in today's beta. Once you install this beta, the internal update process within Toad should proceed as normal. Sorry for any frustration this may have caused.
