Beta Released (12.1.0.2)

Bug Fixes

The Code Analysis interface was improved in this version, too.

Go to Database | Diagnose | Code Analysis.

For a summary, go to Help | Toad Online | New in This Release.

Still problems with downloading the update that I had in the 12.0 beta too:

For comparison, updating worked in betas before. So there is a change in the beta since 12 that prohibits the download.

Wim

Wim, if you're using a proxy server set your proxy settings accordingly in Options|Online. Toad 12 introduced a check to test your internet connection prior to retrieving the download URL that was not working properly in a proxy server
environment. This should be resolved now if your proxy settings are set properly although I've only had confirmation from another user via a demo application so perhaps you can be the guinea pig.

I should add that I assume you already have the latest beta via manual download so before setting your proxy settings we can confirm that you are experiencing the same issue as other users by opening Help|Toad Online. Are the release
notes or what's new tabs blank? If either are blank, set your proxy settings and check again. You may need to restart Toad. If both tabs are loading now then you should be good to go.

Howdy,

I’ve downloaded the .2 update a few times now and it appears to go through the update, but I’m still on .1. (Win7-64)

Thoughts on how to troubleshoot?

TIA!

Do you have a rouge Toad process running? If so, kill it first.

Hey Rich,

When you get a moment, can you add the following to your Toad.ini file:

LogActivities=1

And then send me your ToadActivities.log file that’s produced?

Thanks!

Love those rouge processes! Rogue processes too, but the rouge ones are prettier.

Any chance that the version label in version 12.1.0.2 actually says 12.1.0.1?

Hey Rich,

Where’s the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom! Well, the truth is, it was just a small kaboom – more like a fizzle.

Looks like Toad was trying to download the patch for Toad 12, not Toad 12.1. This has been fixed for Monday’s beta. Until then, we’ll see if we can put in
a workaround.

So it was earth-shattering!

I’d say the workaround is to grab the beta manually. Or move the 12.1.0.2 MSP in place of the (defunct?) 12.0 beta MSP.

I just like saying “defunct”. Said loud enough, it’s sounds like swearing.

Thanks John! [B]

Hey Rich,

We’re in the process of doing something very similar to that. We’re replacing the old “defunct” Toad 12 patch files with copies of the Toad 12.1 patch files
for this patch and the next one. That way, people using the 0.1 and 0.2 betas can still update their version from within Toad itself without affecting the links on ToadWorld. Once 0.3 beta is installed, this should no longer be an issue.

Currently it is not possible for me to test the problem anymore. I was trying to fill in the correct proxy settings and was trying to see the "New to this release" and failed misarably. So I went to our service desk today and asked if they could take a look at the settings and the guy who had duty (lucky it was not me today) also was not able to assist me. The solution then was to add me to the group who is not using the authenticating proxy. I have now free internet access. All problems solved, but no assisting in testing proxy issues anymore for you guys.

So I'm now running the 12.1.0.3 beta and going to use the forum and library options very soon.

Thanks for the assistance in the past. There are still issues with the proxy for the type of proxy we use, but not for me.

Wim

Hey Wim,

I’m glad to hear you found such a good solution and that things are working for you! It’s not a problem. Hopefully the changes we made will fix the issue
for others going forward. We’ll keep our ears open for others who might be in the same kind of boat you were. The good news is, you’re now enjoying the ride on a nice new yacht.

I hope you have a great day!
