One thing that I have long wanted in Toad for Oracle is the ability to open Schema Browser to the schema of my choice by connection or globally without Toad performing a set current_schema operation. If this would be possible, it would be a big help for me and my peeps. We discovered years ago that to specify a default schema in Toad Options causes Toad to “alter session set current_schema” to the specified schema which is not always what we want. Often, we just want Schema Browser to startup in a particular schema. Usually for us that is SYS.

(Well, mebbe not a “big help” but a “helpful nice to have”.)
Hm, yeah once you set default schema...all of the schema dropdowns throughout Toad pick up the setting, and in the editor, it runs the 'alter session set current schema' when you do that. The editor should be the only window doing that.
Here's a thought
- In Schema Browser, right-click on the schema dropdown and choose "Customize"
- Find the one that you want the SB to open as and double-click it to move it over to the right
- The category on the right comes up as "Favorite Schemas" but you can edit that to call it whatever you want.
- Click OK to close that dialog
- Now the Schema dropdown (all of them, not just in Schema Browser) will have the schema you listed at the top, like this, which at least makes it easy to find.
LOLs We have already done this.
Cheers,
Russ
