Color code the connection tab information with the schema browser and editor tabs so you know which goes with what connections rather than trying to figure out which of the connection tab is active so you know what database you are working with.
In connection window, you can choose a color yourself that applies to all child tabs of that connection already. It draws a border around icons in that color and the whole status bar in the bottom, so you will know where you are.
You can even restrict the window bar to only show windows of the current connection...
