Column ID

There are times when I’m searching for a column of data in a table that
may have 50 or maybe 100 columns. In the Describe Columns tab I can easily
alphabetize the names and find the one I’m looking for.

Not quite so easy in the Describe Data tab. So far as I know, the header row
displays the column names in the order they’re defined in the db. And
that’s the way I’d prefer to see them.

What I’m wondering is if there is a way in Toad 9.7 to get a second header
row with the Column ID. Having ascertained same from the Columns tab I could
easily scroll over to that column instead of trying to read each column name.

Thanks much,

Dan

Hi Dan,

There’s no way to do that in 9.7.

How about this though – rt-click -> Select columns, click
“Unselect all”, check a few so you can identify the row, then type
in the name of the column you’re looking for, and check it. Then the grid
will be down to a few columns.

I could make that work; just have to pick the right columns to go with the one I
want.

Thanks much,

Dan
