Feature request: Reorder connection bar buttons by drag'n drop

Currently we're able to reorder connection bar buttons using the "Connection bar button order…" context menu entry.

Would it be possible to sort the buttons using drag-and-drop, like with the editor tabs, for example?
I often have a wide variety of connections open and would like to sort them quickly and easily.

I know that I can sort the existing connections based on various criteria. However, these possible criteria do not reflect my preferred order.

Given the large number of connections (699), manual pre-sorting is difficult, and new connections are regularly added while old ones are deleted.

Hi Dirk,

We've looked at this before. Once drag/drop is enabled for that toolbar, the difficulty lies in preventing those buttons from being drug to different toolbars, and keeping buttons from other toolbars from being drug into the connection bar (actually I just tried and this is possible!). I'll take another look at it though.

In the meantime, you can do almost the same thing in that dialog.

Check "Save Positions" and "Active Connections only" if they aren't already checked. Then you can drag/drop to rearrange the connections in the dialog. You don't have to use the first/up/down/last buttons on the right.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
That's actually how I'm doing it right now (when I do it). But honestly, it's usually too much of a hassle for me.

If I allowed connection toolbar customization, you couldn't just drag and drop the connection bar buttons whenever you want like Editor tabs. You'd have to open the toolbar customization dialog just like with any other toolbar, then you could drag/drop, then close the customization dialog.

It seems to me that this is no more convenient than drag/drop in the "Connection bar button order" dialog. Do you agree, or do you think that would be more convenient?

You're right. This wouldn't be any better.

I was hoping something like dragging editor tabs could be possible.
