Get Latest from Version Control

I’m testing out Toad’s Version Control functionality to see if it might work for our company. Everything has gone well so far except when I make a change to the script file in source control (in production this will happen as a result of merging branches) I can’t get Toad to update the database.

I’ve tried:
Version Control->GetLatest
with and without checking Allow Drop Statements
highlighing various version from the history grid
When I click the OK button it just says that no changes were detected

Version Control->Update Schema
with and without checking Allow Drop Statements
highlighing various version from the history grid
with and without right clicking on a history item and clicking set target version
When I click the OK button it just says that no changes were detected

Version Control->Update Database
with and without checking Allow Drop Statements
highlighing various version from the history grid
with and without right clicking on a history item and clicking set target version
When I click the OK button it just says that no changes were detected

Version Control->Update Status
repeat steps above

I’ve double checked to make sure that there is an actual difference between the version in source control and the version in the DB. ANd I’ve also tried restarting Toad.

I’m using version 5.5 trial.

I’d also be interested to know if there is a way to compare a database against the current version in version control, or another way to detect changes to the schema that were made either through the editor and/or SSMS.

Hi jhutchinson_406,

I’m really sorry for the delay in response.
Can you please give me more details how you work with version control and what you want to achieve?

as per your last statement:
“I’d also be interested to know if there is a way to compare a database against the current version in version control, or another way to detect changes to the schema that were made either through the editor and/or SSMS.”
There is no such facility in Toad yet.
