New Editor and Large files

Toad for Oracle - Beta

The performance of the new editor when there is a large file loaded is atrocious. I have a file loaded that has 3100+ lines in it. I’m trying to add a new function to the package and find that I can type about three or four characters before TOAD locks up for several minutes. Then I can type a few more characters, rinse and repeat.

If I type my function in a different tab it works just fine, so I’m guessing the problem is related to the code insight or one of the other features I love about TOAD.

3100 lines isn't big especially compared to my test cases. I suspect you're right about CI or some other feature that listens to keystrokes. I'll look after the holidays. All offices are closed this week and some of us are out next week too.

So which version of Toad are you using? This would really helped a lot in investigation.

Or we have to be magicians as well?

Something may have changed although nothing is ringing a bell. Do you use capitalization effects (are any styles on the Font and Styling options page set to uppercase
or lowercase)? If so that may have been the issue and it might just be coincidence that your work yesterday didn't setup the conditions to produce it. That was a pretty bad bug and it's fixed in the next beta.

I don't use anything special with the capitalization effects. Though I wonder if it was the same thing that got fixed with the Navigator where it was bringing me to the wrong procedure in that same file.

Personally, though I know you would like to know why it works now, I'm just glad it is fixed. :slight_smile:
