Oracle client 64bit

when i can use oracle client 64 bit

I read in Toad specification:

I found the below notes:

1-Only the 32-bit Oracle client is supported.

2-When running on a 64-bit operating system, you must use the 32-bit Oracle Client.

this mean that oracle client 64bit is not support? or we can use it with windows 32 bit?

Thanks

this is different about what I see in dell software Toad specification that if When running on a 64-bit operating system, you must use the 32-bit Oracle Client. and Only the 32-bit Oracle client is supported.

I still don’t know :frowning:

A 64 bit operating system can support both 32 bit and 64 bit applications. A 32 bit operating system can only support 32 bit applications. This is true for ALL applications, not just Toad.

The key for Toad is that your Toad bits and Oracle bits have to match. If you have a 64 bit OS, you can run either 32 bit or 64 bit Toad as long as you have a matching Oracle client. Your choice.

Thanks for your reply

what about this note what i saw on dell software:

When running on a 64-bit operating system, you must use the 32-bit Oracle Client.

That would be incorrect. Both John and I are members of the development team. You can trust us on this.

When running on a 64-bit operating system, you must use the 32-bit Oracle Client.

That is only true if Toad is 32 bit.
