RE: Introducing the Toad Idea Pond

Norm,
I work at an outside vendor for a large retail company that shall remain unnamed and uncursed. All our web pages are tested with ie6 and have to work because their IT people haven’t the time (or will) to upgrade to a later (but still outdated)version.

Just wanted to give you some comfort;->

I don’t know how those of you who work in such environments stay sane.
You’d be better off surfing the web using your smartphone. To work for a
software company is beyond being spoiled. To go back to the ‘real
world’, I think I should have to have my head examined first.

It's the tangled web one weaves when coding for a specific browser that does
not conform to standards. For us, it's JDEdwards. While the new versions
support Firefox and others, that's not a justification for the major
undertaking (read: "cost") of upgrading an ERP system. Luckily there just
might be other reasons though, so I'm still hopeful we can get rid of the
IE6 boat anchor. Wait, a better analogy would include something that not
just stops/slows you, but also drags you underwater...

Hi Jeff,

I don't know how those of you who work in such environments
stay sane.
Nobody said I was actually sane!

smartphone.
I don't have one. I use my phone as a phone.

Maybe in Quest. I worked in a software house a few years back and we
were not spoiled, trust me. I did get my first real introduction to
Oracle though, and for that, I'm extremely grateful.

To go back to the 'real world', I think I should
have to have my head examined first.
Imagine going back to the real world from Government work then!

Happy Friday.

Cheers,
Norm. [TeamT]
