Re: saving a customized toolbar?

Hi Mark and Wendy,

I was seeing the same thing and ALMOST was going to complain on the group until
I figured it out. I am imaging that Wendy like me tends to have a dozen
connections open at once. So in my case I was nonplused to find the option to
run a query in SQLPlus has gone away from the default toolbar in TOAD 11. So I
have 12 connections open and for connection #1 I add the sqlplus button. But it
only sticks for connection #1. Switching to #2, #3 and #4, etc there is no
sqlplus button. If I close connection #1 and the reopen it in the same TOAD
session the customization is gone. The trick is as Mark said to make your
customizations and then close out entirely from TOAD 11. Then when you open
things back up the customization will “stick” and show up in the
other connections.

By the way, kudos to the TOAD team on version 11. It’s A LOT more stable
for me than the 10 series ever was. I used to crash at least every other day and
I have to say that 11 is a vast improvement for stability.

Cheers,

Paul

thanks for the clarification Paul. I always assume people are talking about the
main toolbar when they talk customizations, not the editor.

Even so, I don’t see what you describe. If I create two different connections,
open an editor to each, make a customization to the toolbar of the editor tied
to connection one, then close & reopen connection one, and reopen an editor, the
customization is there. There’s probably some nuance or other which is causing
it that I’m missing.

Glad you’re finding 11 to be a great release for you. Our surveys on the various
releases over the years show extremely wide disagreement on the stability of
various releases. We have users who say 10.6 was the most stable release ever
for them while others say it’s the most unstable release ever. Which just goes
to show the extreme variety of situations in which Toad runs throughout the
world; it’s impossible to replicate such variety before we release. We just keep
plugging along and hope for the best for the most.

Hi Paul, this did the trick for me. Thanks! Wendy
