Save file file type conundrum

Version 10.6

When I’m in the editor and have a SQL tab and do a save, the file type defaults to PL/SQL type of pls. Since there is a separate tab type for PL/SQL it seems that this would be appropriate for that editor tab.

I can’t find how to change the Save/Save As function for the SQL tab type to default to .sql.

Come on Norm. This has to be an easy one.

R-click in Editor > Configure Editor Tab Styles…

Files > General “file types” section may also be what you’re looking for.

Afternoon all,

When I'm in the editor and have a SQL tab and do a save, the
file type defaults to PL/SQL type of pls.
I see this too.

I can't find how to change the Save/Save As function for the
SQL tab type to default to .sql.
Neither can I! :frowning:

Come on Norm. This has to be an easy one.
Apparently not!

Brad has given a couple of suggestions:

  • R-click in Editor > Configure Editor Tab Styles...

  • View > Toad Options > Files > General "file types" section may also be
    what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way, that I can see, on
those options (or anywhere else!) that allows me to tell Toad to default
to *.sql if I'm saving from an SQL type tab or similar. Strange.

A quick test of a few tab types shows that they all default to a *.pls
filename.

Cheers,
Norm. [TeamT]

Right-Click in the editor and select Editing Options…

see what yiou have selected under languages.

Mine says PL/SQL.

See if that helps.
