You are using the Project Manager Filter. That is used to filter the schema browser to only show items listed in your project manager file. If that is not
what you want, turn off that filter.
Here is the easiest way to do what you are asking:
Open Schema Browser, have it set to dropdown or tabbed mode.
Click the Filter (funnel) icon.
Set the Schema Name dropdown so that it will load tables from the schemas that you are interested in. Click OK to close the dialog.
Now the Schema Browser is showing tables from multiple schemas.
Type FAB* in the edit box to the right of the project manager filter button.

Subject: [Toad for Oracle - Discussion Forum] Schema Browser Search in 12.0.1.2
Schema Browser Search in 12.0.1.2
Thread created by gwoods
I was wondering if anyone has tried search across multiple schemas in the Schema Browser lately. This was working in a previous version but is not now. It might have been version 11.
I have disabled both of the options (Include Schema Name in Filter and Include Server Name in Filter) but it doesn’t appear to be working.
So for example I search for a table using FAB* while sitting in a schema that does not have any table like this and it doesn’t appear to be searching across the other schemas in the database
which I know have tables with that start with those 3 letters.
As always appreciate the feedback.
