Trigger on CLOB fields - No Dice in Schema Browser

We have to update clobs like this, otherwise, you would be limited in the amount
of data you could stick into a lob using the grid.

UPDATE “JDORLON”.“CLOB_TBL”

SET

“COL2”=EMPTY_CLOB()

WHERE

“ROWID” = :“Old_ROWID”

RETURNING

“COL2”

INTO

:“COL2”

I believe this is why your trigger is not catching it.

Oh, I didn’t say it, but we set the data using the COL2 parameter.

I had a similar problem in a test I was doing by trying to INSERT into a CLOB a
concatenation of two values each RPADed to 4000. The INSERT ignored the
concatenation.

But I was able to use the SET operation of an UPDATE to update the value with a
concatenation of RPADed to 4000 values. So I inserted a NULL into the CLOB and
then updated it.

Hi All,

While running the explain plan for any query in the toad iam getting below
error. Could any one please help on this issue?

ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid

Regards,

Venkat

Morning Venkat,

While running the explain plan for any query in the toad iam
getting below error. Could any one please help on this issue?

ORA-00980: synonym translation is no longer valid

it sounds remarkably like a table (or other object) referred to using a
synonym has been dropped or altered in such a way as to make the synonym
invalid.

For example :

create synonym fred for norman.fred;

will be ok as long as no-one drops table norman.fred. If they do, the
synonym remains but is no longer valid as the object it refers to, is no
more.

HTH

Cheers,
Norm. [TeamT]

it is equally possible that the PLAN_TABE (usually owned by SYS) has a
synonym (PLAN_TABLE?) and the sys.plan_table has gone away.
