You say “ When trying to update or add a new LDAP db descriptor the application fails
and terminates” , but they aren’t added in Toad. So are you adding them in your LDAP server, and then when you go to Toad and click the dropdown to see them, that’s when
Toad crashes?

If Toad is crashing in this way, I don’t think it will produce any kind of error log. There must be something different about the new LDAP descriptor that
Toad (or more likely, ORALDAPCLNT.DLL) doesn’t like. Make it identical to the others and everything should be OK.

To clarify, when in TOAD, when I attempt to change the ldap db descriptor using the drop down or type in the value, the application abends with the error I posted. This seems to be a bug?

Could be. Let’s see if this will log anything.

Go to Options -> General. Click the “Open Folder” button in the “Application Data Directory” box. Find the file “Toad.ini”, and In the [SETTINGS] section, add this line

LDAPLogFileName=c:\ldap.txt

Save and close toad.ini, run Toad again, and click the LDAP dropdown. Then check to see if c:\ldap.txt exists. If so, post it here.

Made the change to the ini you stated but no output was created when the application fails upon trying to change the db descriptor.

what Oracle Client version are you using? If you have another client, try it.
