I use 4 screens and I have multiple instances (6 or 7) open, and in each one I set the workspace for each project I have assigned. Every day, I have to open 6 or 7 TOAD instances, and in each one I have to open its corresponding workspace.
Is there any way to set up this task so that it's automatic? I mean, run some script or button, etc., and have it open the 6 TOADs with their respective workspaces and in the configured screens and positions? ...
Actually, there is something that will help.
You can specify a workspace on the command line, like:
"C:\Program Files\Quest Software\Toad for Oracle 2026 R2 Edition\Toad for Oracle 26.2\Toad.exe" -workspace "My Awesome Workspace"
Workspaces do not store Toad's size/position so you'll still have to move them manually, but maybe you can at least start your 6 or 7 Toads with a batch file this way.
When the connection to the DB is lost, you can't open the workspace. Could the workspace be opened even without a connection?
And one more thing, how do I search for a file name in all the open editors?
Thanks John
When the connection to the DB is lost, you can't open the workspace. Could the workspace be opened even without a connection?
If a connection can't be made (or is lost) many windows cannot be opened. The Editor is an exception. So if a connection for a workspace can't be made, you get this prompt:
So you can only open Editors from the workspace if it has no connection.
And one more thing, how do I search for a file name in all the open editors?
We have Main Menu -> Search -> Find in Files/Editor Tabs, but that searches tab contents, not tab/file names. So if your file name is also within the file, this might help you. It would be nice if we had an option to search tab names too but we don.'t.
If that doesn't help, you can check this option:
Then all of your Editor tab names are listed here, and you can click one to go to that tab.
Searching Editor tab names would be a nice thing to have in Jump Search too.
Thanks John! It will help me.
