Downloaded the latest release, 24.2.275.4664. Two weird items. On launching the previous version I got an invalid date / date format - unfortunately I didn't capture that.
Second item, after installing the latest, as I'm typing the cursor is shifting to left of the last visible character. The bigger issue is when entering '.' to get autocompletion of the attribute, for example.
I searched for 'cursor' in the settings, and disabled the first two, 'Find text at cursor' and 'Cursor beyond end of line'; the third, 'Select statement based on cursor position' was already unchecked.
I restarted and am still seeing the same value.
I'm going to uninstall this version and go back, hopefully without a problem.
Update: I did a 'repair' on the prior version (just in case). Upon launching I got the error on the date again. Below is the information from the details, after checking the box 'Copy to clipboard':
Toad.el (1.4 MB)
I think that loaded. If not, I should be able to get a screenshot.
It sounds like this is due to a known issue with high DPI monitors. Are you on a 4k monitor w/ scaling set to something other than 100%? If so, check out this option and set its value to DirectWrite.
Also, open the Release Notes and scroll to the Known Issues | High DPI known issues section. There is a complete description of the issue as well as descriptions of the various options. It also includes a table of fonts and sizes that are susceptible to the issues and those which are OK.
Why, yes to both. I find it necessary, even with the native resolution on the 27in, 2560x1440, to increase scaling. I will investigate further as to the solution(s). However, I will need to continue with work for the time.
Thank you for the very quick response.
You're welcome. I understand completely on the scaling. It's absolutely critical for me as well.
The easiest resolution is to choose a font/size that is not susceptible. See the table I mentioned in Release Notes. We did extensive testing here with the new, advanced Editor options and unfortunately were not able to come up with a single configuration that resolves the issue and looks best on all displays. We opted to configure the settings such that text is crisp on all displays since the default Editor font is not susceptible to the issues. All of the known considerations are outlined in the Release Notes.

I see that "invalid date time" message in your Toad.el. I'll fix. I think it happened like this:
- At some point in the past, you had a different date/time format. It may have been with a prior version of Toad that you imported settings from.
- The "new version" dialog appeared, and you clicked "Remind me later".
- Eventually you got your new Toad, and settings got imported from prior version.
- At some point your date format changed
- Toad 24.2 comes out, triggering the "new version" dialog in 17.1.
- Toad checks to make sure you haven't clicked "Remind me later" within the last 7 days, but it chokes on the date format.
I've made a change to 25.2 so date format is irrelevant.
Kind of weird, wasn’t it.
I appreciate the response and all the work you all do.
