Data Modeler errors on startup

Hi Lukas,

ok, I have installed Beta 4 of TDM. I chose only the Oracle drivers plus Universal database and XP Manifest as before.

After installation (only for me, not for all users) I started TDM from the installer and got the famous “Address Exception” error again.

I ran it again from a command prompt wit start-log. The log file is attached to this call however, it loaded up and worked. No errors.

Cheers,

Hey Norm,

the source is useless, we are unable to reproduce your issue :frowning:

Thanks for trying the Beta installation, but the start log from successfull TDM start contains very little significant info, or rather no. The development guys would need the start log from some faulty start to get any useful info.
However, I have created change request no. CR83656, though we haven’t managed to reproduce the issue.
So far the only way to bridge the issue is installing full DBs support, or in the way you have researched. We don’t consider this to be a solution to the issue, we will go on investigating and let you know here.

Thank you very much for all your input!

Cheers,
Lukas

Morning Lukas.

Ok, no worries. However, I wiped the Beta installation, registry and everything else and re-ran the installation as before:

Oracle and Universal databases only, plus XP Manifest, installed for “only me” - everything else defaulted.

This time, I didn’t allow TDM Beta to auto start after installation. I have attached a start-log for the first startup which resulted in “Access violation at address 004065F8 in module ‘TDM.exe’. Read of address 4445543d”. Unfortunately, no TDM.ELF was produced.

However, I have found a TDM.ELF from the 3.6.6.7 version - which might be of help.

Cheers,

Hi Norm,

back to the office I see development. Thanks for your assistance as the development guys say that the start-log has helped them to get to the point finally! Next Beta release will have the AV problem solved and an improved start-log will be incorporated to help us tracing the problem further as we cannot see the cause of Out of Memory errors and we are still unable to reproduce the issue.
So most probably next week the new Beta will be out and then you can test it and please, if you try it, let us know here with start-log enclosed.
Great job, Norm!
Regards,
Lukas

FYI, I downloaded and installed the beta release Lukas mentioned and everything appears to work now. Thanks!

Is there a target date for the acutal 4.0 release?

Thanks,
Mitch

Hi Mitch,

I’m affraid the Beta release you installed is not the one I mentioned to Norm as it will be out probably tomorrow, or next week at the latest.
Nevertheless, we’re glad your issue has disappeared
Anyway, there is no date for 4.0 release, still far away.
Enjoy the working TDM!

Regards,
Lukas
