Describe dialog size/location

Toad for Oracle 15.1 doesn't remember the size/location of the Describe Objects dialog. It always opens close to full screen (not quite) and on top of the main Toad window.

Hi Ray,

Thank you for reporting this. It is fixed in the current beta.

I tested in 16.0.12.1401 and it's not fixed, is there a newer Beta?

Yes, the newest is 16.0.25.something. Get it here. Toad for Oracle 16.0 Beta

Tested in 16.0.25 and it's fixed. Display sequence is a bit wonky though, I see it appear in default size/location briefly and then it resizes and moves to the saved location.

I see that too. I'll try to solve it.

Hi,

Is this problem back again?

I have Toad for Oracle Base Edition (64-bit)
Add-Ons:
24.2.275.4664

I find it worse: the size increases with every new describe.
Type a known table name in a SQL tab, leave the cursor on the name.
Press F4. Close the describe window in the top, right corner and don't move the mouse.
Press F4 again. Note that this window is about 20% wider and higher, compare with the mouse pointer.
Close and repeat to see the size increase each time.
Resize and close, next describe will start from last size (good) but +20% again (not good).

Kind regards

Tomas

Hi Tomas,

I just tried this with that version and I am unable to reproduce it. For me, the describe window always comes up the same size and position as before. I have a 2-display system (primary is 4K, 2nd is 1920x1080). For me, it is working fine no matter which display Toad and/or describe window are on. If you can provide some more specifics, I will try again

Good morning John,

I now have a support case, 02694586. We have tried a few things without success.
I'm now on the latest version but the problem remained. Running only on the laptop screen, only external or both makes no difference.
Is there any part of the logic behind "decide size of describe window" that could be fooled?
I'd think there is a saved size, and if not it would be calculated from the main window size or screen size.

Tomas

Ok, I'll communicate with you through the support case then.
