Errors Launching TOAD and Setting up TNS Names File

I am getting error messages when I launch TOAD and then when I try to connect to a database. I just installed TOAD 12.7. Here are the error messages:

  1. When I launch TOAD:

No valid Oracle clients found. You need at least one 32-bit client properly configured.

  1. When I launch TNS Names editor:

" Access violation at address 073E0847 in module TOAD.EXE…"

I have re-installed the software and am still getting these errors.

You need to install an Oracle client. You can download one here:

www.oracle.com/…/database12c-win64-download-1968077.html

scroll down near the bottom and you’ll see the link to download “Oracle Database 12c Release 1 Client (12.1.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64 and 32-bit)”

Do you have a 32-bit Oracle client installed?

I forgot I needed an Oracle client. I will install one.
