Keyboard actions in OPEN FILE DIALOG box

Version 12.1.0.22

I’m a KEYBOARD SHORTCUT kinda guy.

In an editor window, I press CTRL+O to open a file.

The editor window appears. I notice I am in a folder called c:\temp\yesterdaysproject.

I would like to navigate to c:\temp without using my mouse. I type “…” like I have for years and then press ENTER.

Previously - and in every other windows application I’ve run - the system dialog box would have performed the same action as pressing the “Up a Folder” button with the mouse.

In TOAD 12 (all releases I’ve tried), nothing happens.

I require one of the following, please:

  1. Let me type “…” and when I do, it should take me up a folder.

  2. Provide keyboard shortcuts from this dialog box for me to navigate to my favorites folders.

Ideally, my point is that I do not want to touch my mouse to have to open a file.

Hey Michael,

How about both??

It looks like this was a limitation of the component set we were using within the dialog. The dialog itself was recognizing the “…” as a valid path, but the
explorer component didn’t want to navigate to it. The “…” combination, however, did work in the incremental search drop-down when listing available files.

I’ve added this functionality for the next beta, as well as a shortcut combination (Ctrl+Shift+F) to navigate to your Favorites Tree. Pressing [TAB] will navigate
away from it again.

Can you add something for those of us who use the mouse and keyboard? Maybe a simple shortcut like ?
