I’m afraid in latest version of Toad (12.6) this is not possible.
You can assign a shortcut in Options on the Toolbars/Menus|Shortcuts page. See the Editor category there are shortcuts for each of the Editor tab styles: PL/SQL,
SQL, Text, etc. Unfortunately you cannot assign a shortcut to open a new tab using the default style (of your choosing), but if you always use SQL tabs then assign that one. There’s room for some improvement here.

Hello,
i tried that but still its not working, when m pressing ctrl+N new tab is not showing
Please advice,
You can’t use that one
J . There are a few shortcuts that are hardcoded and you can’t change them. CTRL+N is one of them.
It brings up the named SQL recall dialog. If you have no named SQL defined then it does nothing. All of these shortcuts should really be consolidated into that shortcuts options window.

Actually, I spoke too soon. You can use CTRL+N, it is picked up before the named SQL recall so if you don’t mind losing the named SQL recall popup then assign
it. However, note in my earlier reply that you need to assign it to one of the new tab styles, not the generic New Tab menu item.

sorry i didn’t get,
i tried as per the screenshot attached ,my default tab style is sql.
You cannot set the shortcut for the default new tab button. You need to assign it to a specific tab style. Set the shortcut for the “SQL Style” command seen
just above in the screenshot you sent. That should do it.
