Dear community - issue is solved - perpetual license is indeed perpetual
Need your help to understand the in injustice that was just done to me by Quest.
I purchased Toad for Oracle back in 2018 and during the purchase I asked specifically the rep if the license is perpetual and it is in my name.
The answer was yes. I have a perpetual license that belong to me.
Since 2018 I was paying every year support fee but this year it is thought, and I have to stop the support.
Quest agreed to stop the renewal, but mention that the license will expire with my device.
So basically if windows broke or I have to migrate to a new device or have to reinstall windows or anything that will make my current device unusable i am going to lose the license.
Support means new versions and bug fixes, not maintaining perpetual license in the perpetual status. In this case it is not perpetual it is a rent (subscription).
License was sold as perpetual and it is in my name, so I have to have the rights to use it until i am alive and not until my device is alive
Sorry I am angry, but i am self employed it is jut simple NOT FAIR.
Andrei
Send me your license info and I'll see what I can find out.

Hi Andrei,
It's possible that the representative you spoke with was assuming you were using the subscription version of Toad for Oracle and simply gave you the incorrect information; in which case, our apologies if that happened and caused you frustration. If you can send John your license information privately above, we can verify it and let you know for certain.
With the recent release of our subscription-based product, I can imagine how it might cause some confusion. If you have a permanent license, it should give you the ability to continue using your existing versions of Toad, regardless of whether you're in a maintenance contract or not. As you mentioned, the maintenance contract is more for giving you support cases and the ability to receive new features and bug fixes with new versions of the product.

Thank you very much for quick reply.
I did sent the details to john.dorlon@quest.com
You're welcome. I received your email.
That is indeed a perpetual license. It will not expire, even if your maintenance contract expires. Whoever told you differently was wrong.
Thanks a lot for your support!
Do not know how to remove the topic so I edited with comments.
You're welcome. If you agree, I will remove this thread, but you can feel free to email directly in the future (or just make a new post here) if you have a license problem.
Yes, please remove it. Thanks again.
