TOAD for Oracle license - Quest forcing to move away from perpetualrom

I recently discovered that TOAD is essentially pushing perpetual license holders to migrate to a subscription model — effectively forcing us to give up our purchased licenses.

After being a long-time, loyal customer who invested in multiple perpetual licenses and paid the not-so-cheap maintenance fees over the years, I was surprised to find out that new features (like AI integration) are not available to perpetual license holders.

If you want to access these capabilities, you must switch to the subscription model - at least that’s what the account manager told me.

Frankly, this feels like a disappointing move from Quest, especially toward customers who have supported the product for years (unless I’m missing something).

Hi Humberto,
Thanks for your feedback and welcome to our user forums.
Unlike other features added to the product, there’s an ongoing COGS to Quest with AI and it requires a user account login to use. It made sense for us to put it into our subscription models, which already have the sign in logic, and pay as you go, etc. We may in the future add the option for perpetual users who are on maintenance. In the meantime, your account rep can offer the subscription model at the cost of your current maintenance in most situations. You can also reach out to our director of product management julie.hyman@quest.com if you’d like further information.
