I’ve just updated Toad to Toad for Oracle 2025 RC3, and I’m finding that in some of my editor tabs, the text is the correct size, but in some editors it is apearring larger.
I am using a laptop connected to two larger screens, and it seems if I move Toad to the smaller laptop screen and maximise it, then move it back, it does fix it. So I do have a workaround, but I thought you should know about the issue.
Hi Dan,
Toad 2025R3 introduced per-monitor dpi awareness, so everything should appear crisp and sharp on high dpi displays, but there is occasionally a bit of weirdness with things appearing too big or too small. You can disable this setting here:
I can probably fix it, but I need to know how a little more about your display arrangement. I assume your laptop is has 200% or so scaling. What about the other displays? Also, which one is configured as primary?
And..do you know exactly how to reproduce the problem? I haven't seen this one. It may depend on which display you closed/opened Toad on, if you drug it to another display, did something in Options, etc.
Thanks.
Ah, thanks. I’ll disable that setting. I don’t have a way to produce it - and I have some dodgy communication between my laptop and the workstation, where a couple of times a day, my external monitors go black for a few seconds, and then come back. While that is happening, apps pop to the laptop screen, and then (usually) pop back to their original screens. I suspect that may be related, so I’m probably an edge case
But in case you want the info anyway…
My laptop screen has 125% scaling, and my two large monitors are 100%. The laptop screen is my primary one.
Thanks for the info. At 100% scaling, you probably won't notice a difference between the DPI setting being on or off (except that the icons will be the "old" Toad icons). You'd only notice it on your laptop display.
I see that problem sometimes - screens going black and then coming back on. That could definitely be related but I have not experienced the Editor scaling getting off. I'll try to find out what's happening there.

Just FYI, even with that setting turned off, I’ve just had the issue again. The workaround of going to the laptop monitor and back still works though
Can you send a screen shot of what it looks like next time you have the issue?
Thanks
John
I checked it a few times throughout the day, and it was working perfectly. Just now, my screens did that think of going black for a few seconds, and the issue is happening again.
This is tab 3 showing the correct size text:
And this is tab 4 with big text:
Hi Dan,
Thanks for the info. interesting. I thought it was the scaling of all of the text in the Editor, not just the some of the tabs
An easier workaround might just be CTRL+Mouse Wheel to adjust the zoom on that tab.
