Toad cannot access network drives

Beta version 23.2.108.8442.

Previously with all beta versions, the first load of the application after update never listed any of my mapped drives. The solution was always to restart it again and they were again listed and accessible.

This latest version I've restarted a few times, but it cannot see any of my mapped drives when opening or saving files. If I try to reopen a file used previously from a network drive, it's very fast giving me the "not found, Remove it from the list?" message.

Hi Megan,

I just followed these steps and did not have any problems.

Mapped a network drive from one PC to another
Installed 26.1 and the latest beta (I did not have it on this PC before)
Started the beta and opened a file in the Editor through network drive

Can you access files on your mapped drive in windows explorer without any problems?

Yes, certainly can.

The other red flag is that this version causes windows to ask on every start whether I permit it to make changes.

I have both 2026 R1 open and the beta version at the same time at the moment. 2026 R1 I can see all my drives and doesn't prompt when I start it.

The beta version does, even when running in administrator mode. It's almost certainly some issue with windows permissions, but only the latest update has caused this, so something is different.

I think I have solved this with the help of AI:

Toad.exe in the Beta folder has "Run this program as an administrator" enabled under properties -> compatibility. I've unchecked this, and it has opened without prompting and with all my drives.

Also worth noting that the install must run under elevated permissions, which is why I cannot see the drives if Toad automatically opens after the installation.

Hi Megan,

Thanks for the info. I don't think we made any change there, and mine and it isn't with "run as administrator", so I am not sure what happened there. I'll ask around, but let me know if it happens again with the next beta
