TOAD Data Pump error

I ran into a problem with using Data Pump in Toad 12. Logged in as an user attempting to export data from another schema I receive and error

UDE-01017:operation generated Oracle error 1017

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; login denied

Username: UDE-00005: unexpected end-of-file encounted while reading input

I am able to successfully export the same parm file from the last version of TOAD (11.x) that I had installed.

If this error has been previously reported, please disregard.

BTW, is there a summary list of all TOAD 12 errors? If true, how would I access this list?

Barry D.

I just tried to reproduce this but it worked fine for me.

I am logged in as JDORLON.

In the datapump export screen, I choose “Schemas” and add HR to the list.

Fill in the fields on the “Files” tab and click the green arrow to run it….no problems.

Then I saved it all to a parameter file, and ran it from the parameter file but still no problems.

Is there something special about your login? Mine is just a plain database authenticated user.

Running Oracle 11G R2 - using database user authentication. I tired your approach but still get the error listed below. Any ideas are appreciated but this approach works in TOAD 11.6 in the same database using the same parameter file.

Typically, I do not use the GUI but build the parameter file manually. Still, there is nothing particularly fancy about this parm file - it exports the entire schema.

I logged in as COBR and attempt to export all from the TSTEAS schema. Note I have tried this with other schemas as well with the same result. I am writing to a directory on the server. Additionally, I have IMPORT FULL DATABASE and EXPORT FULL DATABASE system privs.

This is a copy of my parm file:

DUMPFILE=“COBREXP_TSTEAS_07242013.DMP”

LOGFILE=“COBREXP_TSTEAS_07242013.LOG”

DIRECTORY=CBR_DP_DIR

JOB_NAME=‘COBREXP_TSTEAS_07242013’

CONTENT=ALL

SCHEMAS=TSTEAS

I select “Use an existing file”. As soon as I execute from the GUI, I receive this error:

Export: Release 11.2.0.2.0 - Production on Wed Jul 24 14:44:31 2013

UDE-01017: operation generated ORACLE error 1017

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Username: UDE-00005: unexpected End-Of-File encountered while reading input

Are there any spaces or special characters in your password that require it to be double quoted? I can reproduce it that way and can’t get EXPDP to work from command line when there are spaces in the password.

I’ve replied to this thread twice with no avail so far, from e-mail. I’m trying now from Toad, so please forgive me if you get multiple replies…

Maybe you are using a different Oracle home? Or maybe you options > executables is pointing to the wrong expdp.exe or impdp.exe?

John - no spaces or special characters in password.

Brad - I doubled checked - same Oracle home - same executable options path

The update from TOAD 11.6 to 12 went without issue.

What is really wierd is the actual error - invalid username / password - suppose that could just be Oracle throwing out a strange error (or maybe I am missing something?)

I think I figured it out. Is “Save passwords” unchecked on the login screen? I can reproduce this when I uncheck it. It’s been checked all along over here. I will fix this.

My COBR user had password unchecked. Once I checked it, the DP utility ran without error.

The workaround it just to leave it checked until the first path comes along?

Many thanks for your help.

I meant first PATCH - not path

Yup, that’s the workaround. I’ll have it fixed for next beta. We made a change during the last beta cycle to get it to work with proxy users….that’s what
broke it.
